Appsky is a human-centered creative agency that specializes in the design, software, & consulting. They are based in Omaha, NE, and focus on building custom solutions for hybrid mobile apps and progressive web apps (PWAs), WordPress websites and e-commerce, and UI/UX design and branding. Appsky is in its 5th year of operations and continues to see opportunities to grow and be involved with the local community.
“As a service-based company, our sales can be seasonal, often starting new projects at the beginning of the year and middle of the year. Cash is needed upfront to hire new developers to increase the development capacity needed to take on new projects. NEF helped us secure a loan so we could handle the gap between hiring a new developer and receiving the first payment from a new client.” said Chief Operations Officer, Jade Jensen.
As active members in Omaha’s tech and entrepreneurship community, owners of Appsky were previously acquainted with NEF members, Leo Martinez and Jim Reiff, which led to them seeking funding resources through their organization.
“Being familiar with Nebraska Enterprise Fund made it easy for us to approach them when we needed a loan. We knew Jim and Leo as a result of attending many of the same entrepreneurial events across Omaha. They were both a joy to work with and did their best to accommodate our needs at the time, stepping in when other options were not readily available.” Jensen said.
Three years later, Appsky has returned to Nebraska Enterprise Fund for a second loan, this time to use the funds to scale the business and be more prepared for the seasonal influx of work. Martinez efficiently worked with Appsky during the process and made himself available anytime to answer any questions they had.
